The awards gala will be staged at Comesa Hall in Blantyre on March 29.
Speaking during a press briefing at Nyasa Manufacturing Company head office, Mandala, in Blantyre Thursday, Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said some companies have joined the exercise by pledging to fund the initiative.
Bullets intend to reward their players of the season for both the senior and reserve sides.
The red carpet function will also recognise the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and most disciplined players.
Haiya said the awardees would be selected by the team’s supporters through voting.
“Voting is underway. Our supporters are casting their votes by SMS through the code *477#. One SMS costs K50 and voting ends on the day of the event. This will be a red carpet function to honour outstanding players in different positions including player of the season.
“This is a way of honouring our fans by asking them to vote for our team’s best defender, midfielder and striker. The supporters will also vote for the most disciplined and our best player of the season. To vote the supporters should dial *477#,” he said.
Haiya said the ceremony presents an opportunity to more supporters to register as they vote for their best players.
He said registered supporters would have the advantage of having their vote counted five times whereas unregistered fans’ vote will count just once.
Speaking at the same briefing, one of Bullets’ directors, Albert Chigoga, said they had arranged for the corporate world to partner them during the awards.
“For instance, we will be selling a corporate table for 10 people at K500,000 each. So, we are also welcoming companies and organisations to come forward and partner us,” Chigoga said.
This is the first time for Bullets to spend such an amount on an initiative aimed at rewarding their players.
The team’s supporters organised a similar event at a small scale in 2016 to thank players for their exploits in the 2015 season.
Bullets’ rivals Be Forward Wanderers also organised a gala at the end of the 2017 season at Robin’s Park in Blantyre, where outstanding players walked away with prizes.
