Manchester Thunder shooter Joyce Mvula is among nine nominees for Vitality Netball Superleague player of the season award in the United Kingdom.
This is the second successive season for the Malawi national netball team player to be nominated for the award.
“It is an honour for me to get nominated for the award. It has been a tough and exciting season. I have had some outstanding performances. I am asking netball loving fans across the world, and Malawi in particular, to vote for me,” the former Blue Eagles Sisters shooter said through WhatsApp.
This season, Mvula achieved a remarkable feat after attaining 100 percent shooting accuracy in two matches.
The nominations were announced on Monday with just two matches remaining—the bronze final and the 2019 grand final.
“Together, we have turned to the clubs for the nominations and used the Players’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year votes alongside fans’ reactions, to come up with a final list of nominees. After a wealth of exceptional individual performances, choosing just one won’t be an easy decision,” skysports.com reports.
Meanwhile, Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, has asked Malawians to vote for Mvula.
“We are proud of her and we need four or five players to be playing at the highest level. Let us all vote for her,” she said.
Last weekend, Mvula was named player of the match after inspiring
