Queens Coach Griffin Saenda Snr has recalled the Tigresses duo of wing attacker Beatrice Mpinganjira and shooter Sindie Simtowe. The coach has also given goal defender Madalitso Mkandawire her second call-up.
Several top names including professionals Joyce Mvula of Manchester Thunder and Lauren Ngwira, who is caught up in a transfer controversy, are part of the team.
Former Queens skipper Caroline Mtukule-Ngwira, who missed the continental championship, is also in the squad alongside skipper Joanna Kachilika, Towera Vinkhumbo- Nyirenda and Takondwa Lwazi.
Saenda said the mission was to revive the team ahead of the series.
“We need to work in all the departments. We need endurance. The defence should be tight and the centre court players should have vision and accuracy whereas the shooters should be sharp. If we can achieve this, we will do well at the event,” he said.
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) General Secretary, Carol Bapu, called for unity and said the technical panel did not include Melbourne Vixens shooter Mwawi Kumwenda in the squad because she is recovering from an injury.
The Queens are smarting from a poor outing in the 2018 Gold Coast City Commonwealth Games in Australia and last month’s Africa Netball Championship which was held in Zambia.
The 2018 edition of the series will be played at Hisense Arena, Melbourne from October 27-28, with teams playing six 24-minute games in two days.
