Sand Music Festival organisers are ready to unveil names of artists to star at the event, to be held at Kabumba Hotel in Salima District.
The festival is scheduled for November 1 to 3 later this year.
Oganisers of the event over the weekend held a pre- Sand Music Festival event at Kabumba, where Soldier Lucius Banda, Zembani Band and reggae group Black Missionaries were on song.
Lucius, who is the director of Impakt Events— which spearheads the festival —said Wednesday he was impressed with the turnout.
“The turnout was super and the venue is just good. The turnout challenged us to give people more. We have started selecting local artists and what remains are the confirmations,” Lucius said.
Dubbed Adventurous Live Music by the Beach, Lucius said people should watch the space.
However, the festival has been shifted to early November, thereby clashing with Tumaini Festival, which takes place at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District.
But Lucius felt that this was no cause for concern.
“These are two different festivals and, as such, I don’t think there is a problem,” he said.
Last year’s festival was headlined by Jamaican artist Kenyatta Hill.
Some of the artists that have graced the festival include Tanzania’s Diamond, Jamaica’s Busy Signal and Zimbabwe’s Ammara Brown.
