Vice President, Saulos Chilima, is today expected to take part in a fundraising golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club.
Polytechnic Alumni has organised the tournament, dubbed ‘Teeing off to make a difference in someone’s life,’ to fundraise for needy students.
The grouping’s Secretary, Wisely Phiri, Friday said all was set for the tournament, which will be played under short-gun format.
“We are former students of the University of Malawi, the Polytechnic. Currently, we are sponsoring 85 needy students with their tuition fees at The Polytechnic, and we would like to sponsor more. That is why we are coming [up] with these activities. No deserving student should be denied their right to education just because they cannot afford fees. Let us help where we can,” he said.
Chilima, has of late, been involved in many fundraising tournaments.
